A high-frequency sound can be heard from computers running Windows 10 with the KB5000842 update.
According to more and more users, they experience an annoying noise in the speakers during special situations when surround sound is played.
The reports indicate that it is mainly when surround sound in 5.1 modes is played that the noise is heard.
There should be no noise in stereo mode, which is a way around the problem for sufferers. Although the sound may not be as good as with surround.
Both versions 20H2 and 2004 are affected as far as we know today.
And Microsoft announces that they are aware of the problem and that they are investigating what may be wrong.
3 ways to work around the problem of noise in KB5000842
There are three ways to get rid of noise after installing KB5000842.
- Listen to sound in stereo mode
- Activate so-called spatial sound
- Stream audio and video in an app other than the one that shows noise
KB5000842 is, to say the least, a problematic update that has done so on many fronts. Among other things with performance problems.
At the time of writing, there is no solution to the problems, but Microsoft is at least working on it.
