Microsoft fixes the printer crashes in Windows 10 with KB5001566

Microsoft has released a new update to Windows 10 to fix the serious crashes affecting users with printers. The update is ready today and can be installed via Windows Update.

We have previously written about updates KB5000802 and KB5000808 which crashes Windows 10 if the user has installed printer drivers from some manufacturers.

The recommendation then was to uninstall the updates to avoid the problem, but now Microsoft finally has an official solution. And that’s another update to Windows 10.

The small update is called KB5001566 and the only fix is just for the printer problem. This is how Microsoft writes its official website:

Addresses an issue that might cause a blue screen when attempting to print to certain printers using some apps and might generate the error, APC_INDEX_MISMATCH.

To install the update, go to the Start menu> Settings> Update and security> Windows Update. Make sure KB5001566 is checked and install the update.

When everything is ready, you can reconnect your printer and try printing. Did it work? Voila, hopefully you will have
