After 15 years, the police’s internal communication network Rakel will be replaced and replaced with a new system that goes by the working name Rakel G2. The radiation from the radio system has previously been linked to serious health problems, cancer and brain tumors.
IDG writes that the old Rakel network on MSB’s initiative will be replaced after 15 years of use and replaced by a new one that can also handle image transfer and “sharing of location images”. The cost is estimated to amount to SEK 7.3 billion.
The authority claims that it is high time for a “generational change” and that the new system will be used by the police as well as the rescue service, ambulance and “other socially important activities”.
