Does Apple have problems with certain colors on the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini? It amazes some users who claim that their mobile phones are affected by discoloration on the edges of the phones.
It is unclear how many are affected and thus we do not know how widespread the problem may be. But what we know today is that at least the red variant can be affected by a problem that causes the color to change in hue over time.
According to at least one user, the discoloration takes place around the edges of the camera and in other places around the mobile phone. This is how a user on Apple’s official forum writes about the matter:
“Back in November 2020, we bought a red iPhone 12 for the editorial office, which is used primarily for work purposes. This phone has been worn in a transparent case since day one and has not been used in any “toxic” environment where aggressive substances are present.
“
One possible reason why the problem occurs is that it can be poor surface treatment from the factories. It may also be that the surface is not anodized, which only happens on iPhones of silver, gold and bronze.
Apple’s official forum has several threads where users report discolorations around the iPhone series. It is not only the iPhone 12, but also older models that seem to be affected. But since we have not heard much about it before, the spread is probably very limited.
