In 2017, Razer released the Kiyo webcam with built-in ringlight and a resolution of 720p. Four years later, the successor Kiyo Pro has been released with a higher resolution and no ring light. And the price tag, it has increased exponentially.
- Higher resolution at 1080p with HDR support and up to 60fps
- Price tag that matches Logitech’s flagship model Brio
- Requires extra software to work optimally
- Uses Sony Starvis technology for optimal light management
The Razer Kiyo Pro costs an extreme 209 euros, which is a big price jump from the approximately 129 euros that the old Kiyo costs. For the new price, you get a webcam that streams in 1080p at 60 frames per second, or in 1080p / HDR at 30 frames per second.

The design has become more compact with the Kiyo Pro and the inside has been upgraded with a new, improved camera sensor. It’s a 2.1 megapixel Sony-designed CMOS IMX327 sensor that sits inside the small glass in the center of the webcam.
The sensor supports autofocus and uses Sony Starvis technology. The latter is normally only available in security cameras and is used to highlight details in low light conditions. Sony Starvis can also be used to balance the light so that the image is as lifelike as possible.
Other details are that Kiyo Pro does NOT support 4K resolution or Windows Hello as competitor Logitech Brio does (for about the same price). In addition, the autofocus is perceived as hunting according to the website The Verge; this means that the focus is difficult to find the right focus point and the image becomes blurred while the webcam searches in time and out of time.
If you install Razer Synapse on your computer (both Windows and macOS are supported), you can set the focus manually and avoid the chasing autofocus.
The Razer Kiyo Pro has built-in microphones. However, this does not mean that you should use them. No matter how good the manufacturers want us to believe their microphones are in webcams, it is always better to have a separate microphone.
Razer Kiyo Pro works with Windows and macOS. For full functionality, you need to install the Razer Synapse software that you find here.
The approximate price for Kiyo Pro is 209 euros, which is recalculated to approximately SEK 2,100 including VAT. If you buy directly through Razer the shipping cost to Sweden is approximately one hundred kronor.
