Are you using Apple Music on your Android phone and looking forward to supporting Dolby Atmos? Then we have really bad news

According to information to the website MySmartPrice, Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos will not work outside Apple’s own ecosystem.

This means that if you use Apple Music on Android and Windows 10, you get limited functionality. And no support for Dolby Atmos.

Not clear why Dolby Atmos will not be released for Apple Music on Android

At the time of writing, there is no information on why Apple does not want Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos on operating systems other than its own.

There are several possible reasons. One is that Apple lacks full control over the platforms, which means that they do not want to add the extra functionality for security reasons.

One more likely reason is that Apple wants to attract already interested people who use Music for the iPhone, iPad and Mac series.

Lossless Audio is supported with Apple Music on Android

A piece of nicer news is that Lossless Audio with its higher sound quality will work with Apple Music on Android.

Provided you have the right music equipment that is.

For your existing AirPods will NOT work with Lossless Audio – there is simply no support either via Bluetooth or with Lightning cable (if you have AirPods Max).
