Microsoft has now announced that their online service will change its name, which is clearly more appropriate and less confusing.
Microsoft has a lot going on with the Xbox and then not only the consoles but overall. Now they have announced that they have chosen to change the name of Xbox Live to Xbox Network. According to Microsoft, the reason is to differentiate between Xbox Live Gold, which is a subscription with Xbox Network, which is an online service.
A representative from Microsoft sells the following regarding the name change:
” Xbox network ‘refers to the underlying Xbox online service, which was updated in the Microsoft Services Agreement. The update from ‘Xbox Live’ to ‘Xbox network’ is intended to distinguish the underlying service from Xbox Live Gold memberships.
Now it will be interesting to see how Microsoft will work with the Xbox Network in the future and how long until Xbox Live Gold can keep its name.
